Hi All

I need your help!

My supplier of Renthal Dakar bars can't get any for a monthcry and I really can't be out of stock for that long, I have found some replacements, but they are a little bit different.

For a start they are 790mm wide instead of 830mm wide, would the be of an issue?

They are higher by 12mm, this would be a bonussmile

They have a sweep of 90mm instead of 75mm, can't see that being as problem

Rise of 105mm instead of 95mm, to small to notice?

Bar Clamp of 120mm instead of 130mm, I have measured the clamps on our bikes and this would fit.

Control length is 28mm longer, would this matter? would be better, more room to fit sat nav etc?

Feed back appreciated asap, as I need to get some ordered.

Steve

I find the Renthal Dakars a bit wide, and was going to cut them shorter 'till I realized the levers etc would not fit, so these would have been preferable. The only place I think the difference would be noticeable is in the sweep, as the angle of your wrists would change. Need to sit on the bike and imagine how a more angled bar would feel...
At least Renthal haven't stopped trading, like Motad. Nightmare!
Simon.

Haha i was just about to say the same. I wish the dakars were slimmer.. Sound like they'd work well!

I stay under 800 wide... better in the trees / single tracks..
my bar bend of choice is the "CR high" the sweep gives a nice wrist angle...

I wont be rushing to replace my dakars but if I had the choice I'd chose the smaller ones!

I've got jimmy button high bend. They were the closest I could get to the dakar bend here in Oz. I love them. Not sure if they are the same as your option 2 but my local shop reckons the jb bend is a popular high alternative. They sell more jb's than any other renthal. Might be a good alternative?

Will have a look at them Chris.

My replacements ended up being no goodcry That sweep makes them feel wrong and they will be going on Ebay.
