I was just stripping out a cylinder head tonight and found a couple of very odd "things" under an exhaust valve - see photos below.
I thought first off they were shells but I crushed them and the walls were thick and crumbly - almost like rotten wood.
Any ideas what they are or were?

Good old wasp nests
Get them in my road jacket as it doesnt get used .
Also my old Yamaha jog scooter it was the first thing I'd check for little buggers would build a nest in the exhaust and block it
