Auto fuel taps

Ok I know alot of people don't like them, but what's the consensus on here?

There was one fitted to my Super Sherpa and I liked it.

Prime for 5 seconds, a little choke, turn the key, running engine... Turn engine off... Walk away with no worries.

I'm also used to FI bikes and this fuel tap on the TTR has me coming back to the bike after 30 mins in work as I'm stupid and forgot to turn the tap off.

Is there a vacuum port on the TTR carb to begin with?

Hi Nathan

What is your worry about leaving the petrol tap on? I tend to leave it on all the time unless I am not going to use the TTR for a while.

The only time i ever touch the fuel tap is when i'm turning it off to remove the tank. The rest of the time it is left on while on the bike.

Is it leaking if you do not turn it off?

Hey there

I have owned my TTR for 4 years now and never turned it off

and as Moo says, removing the tank, turn it off

if your carb is leaking I think it's usually part number 39, Needle valve I think

Otherwise rest easy, the TTR carb is a good one.

It's only that I've had Fuel Injected bikes until the Super Sherpa and now the TTR. But the sherpa's tap was auto so never had to think about it.

I thought it was a big deal if you don't turn the tap off... I shall now leave the sodding thing on.
