Choke problem.

Hello everyone!

Question! I've got a 2000 ttr250 blue tank model. The problem I'm having is with the choke.

When I initially start the bike, I pull the choke knob outward and start the bike. As soon as the bike is running, I push the knob in half way and let the bike warm up. Naturally the RPM is elevated when the choke is on. When I feel the motor should be sufficiently warmed up, I push it all the way in. The motor dies almost immediately.

To start it back up I have to crack the throttle just a bit and hit the starter and it runs perfectly after that.

Any clues? The plug looks good. Nice coffee color, dry.

Thanks in advance!

-Matthew

Mines a 2010 Aussie model

I had the same problem from cold until I went up one size on the pilot jet and it was a 100% improvement when starting from cold

pretty comon with Aussie yamahas due to the emission requiments and average fuel I did the same on my sons ttr125 as it was terrible at cold starts until the jet was replaced

Thanks for the suggestion ttboof. I'll have to order some new jets then!

I was planning on uncorking the ttr, might as well order those jets to!

Cheers!

I changed both but found it too rich so went back to a  standard main and one up on the pilot .

And it's a good chance to give the carby a good clean
