I have a '04 TTR 250 and it seems to be screaming at 100kph? When I got it 18 months ago that wasn't the case. Dad has a '00 TTR 250 and it can sit on 100 fine? both bikes have the same sprocket sizes, and basic mods were done to them and I was just curious as to what you guys think the problem could be?
This bike has a bunch of problems which is to be expected considering I paid barely 2k for it and it had 8000kms on it. I'll probably back for more of your wisdom :)

Yes - it is common for the clutch to only slip in the higher gears when it is on its way out.
Did you have free play on the cable?
A simple test is to find a safe bit of tarmac and trundle along at about 30-35mph, get into 4th or 5th gear, pull in the clutch, rev the engine and dump the clutch. It will be very obvious if the clutch is slipping as the revs won't die immediately but take a few milliseconds to match forward speed.
Come to realise the rubber boot thing that goes on the right side of the carb has a clamp that was in the way of the throttle bit so i was only getting about 50% throttle. oops
Thanks for that steve. Didn't see the shop on this website. I think i'll grab some things off it if they ship to australia (HOPEFULLY) because my TTR needs some TLC desperately. Any idea where i could get the screws for that cap?
I have a hell of a lot of questions about the things i need done to this bike and just some general advice. Should I make another post with all of them or post them here or PM them to someone if that's possible? I'm sure someone here should be able to help me out. You blokes are pretty damn knowledgable
