i have noticed that my TTR smokes a bit when you first start it. it seems to be white smoke shich clears after a while when the bit warms up...

 I ain't got one to compare it to latest the moment as I sold my last one!

i no some bikes do smoke when cold my road bike does and has always done so from new...

is it normal? I have never really paid to much attention to be honest..

White smoke sounds like it's burning off some condensation. If it doesn't smell of burnt oil and the engine isn't using oil then I wouldn't worry wink

If I hold a clean rag to it if it were oil would it leave some kind of residue on the rag?

Probably but you would smell it first I am sure.

Is the engine using oil?

It doesn't seem to be. I need to remember what the smell of burning oil smells like lol.
