Hi all im new to the forum and have a 2009 TTR250 which I have been restoring. I have rebuilt most of the top end and other bits and pieces and have loved reading and learning from all the great info on the forum and have found it to be most helpful so many thanks to all for that.
I have finally gotten to ride the bike after the rebuild and found the I have what I believe to be an oil leak from my exhaust header. Its not pouring out but is moist and smoking mildy. I replaced piston and rings, new valve stem seals, ground the valves back in and re shimed the valves. I used assembly lube I don't know if its that just burning off if I have some sort of leak or the other thing is there suppose to be some sort of gasket between the header pipe and cyclinder head because if so mine never had one and would this be the cause?
Would love some input rather than blindly pull things apart after having just put it all back together any help would be greatly appreciated many thanks
If the leak is in the area of the exhaust then it can only usually be two things (a) the decompressor plug (most likely - see my photo in an earlier post on this thread) or (b) the cam cover gasket (less likely).
