Ahhh - you mean to take the sump guard off to use as an impromptu stand? Yes - that would probably work but it may be easier to use a short branch as a support on the opposite side to the stand.

We have done that on the lanes a few times - works well but it assumes you have branches nearby and a way of cutting them or breaking them to the right length. Because of the frequency of meeting fallen trees on our lanes, most of us carry clasp (pruning) saws in our tool kit wink

no i mean build a new skid plate that pivots at the rear with a quick release pin at the front....

 

as you can see in those vids i posted.... we dont always have trees in the sub alpine areas...

Knowing my luck, the pin would fall out, launching the guard while riding....

 I would feel more conformable if it was a slow, awkward pin release, you really wouldn't want that dropping out while riding!
