Indicator warning light on all the time
Permalink

Hi, I have an issue with the indicator warning light which flashes on and off as soon  as you turn the ignition off.  it did this when I first picked up the bike even though it had no indicators, one of the previous owners had put insulating tape over it.  It is a white OE model but I have replaced the switchgear with new later stuff from Brian and also replaced the loom with a good second hand one.  It now has LED indicators on it which work fine.  There is still the fault with the idiot light though so for the moment it is covered once again with insulating tape.  Has anyone else had the same issue or has anyone got any ides?

Cheers Jak

That's an odd one!
Does it flash continuously with the ignition off or just once? May be power back-feeding to the bulb somehow? Pull the bulb and use a test light to see which side of the fitting is pos and which neg - with the flashers on which side lights the bulb. Turn off the flashers then turn off the ign to see if you are getting a pulse down the supply side. If not, put the tester on the other side of the bulb holder and turn off the ign - if you get a flash, there's power back feeding from somewhere. What else is this wire connected to?
Does it flash normally when you use the indicators? Could try a different flasher relay, or even a different cdi unit.
Good luck,
Simon.
