Stock horn location
Permalink

Hello, I purchased an aftermarket horn & button for my ttr.

Now I'm looking for a good place to put it.

Where is the stock location for the horn on a model that came with one. (raid)etc..

Thanks.

It is normally mounted in the right side below tank on the neck around the hight of the top of the cylinder head.

Hi Jeff

Keith is correct although, if you have a US frame then many of the brackets are missing and my guess is the horn bracket won't be there cry

The items 17 and 18 show the "signal" equipment commonly known as a horn/hooter. biggrin

I have to say it's not a good place for it though, fills up with mud pretty quick!

Sounds odd but reversing it stops it filling with mud wink

Fitted a new horn when i rebuilt my TTR, after a few wet muddy rides it would no longer work. It's one of my winter jobs to fit a new horn in a different location.

This is my horn's position (ooh errr!) biggrin

The frame bracket is welded to the frame just left above the top head-brace bolt.

There is also a connecting bracket from the horn to the frame bracket.

Perhaps the US TTRs don't require this arrangement - unless the bike is licensed for the road. confuse
