hello all has anyone ever run a 140/80 rear tyre only just got bike and not ridden it yet as i need to do my test so just making sure everything is right on it. noticed tyre has rubbed through the flap.snails at no7 chain at correct tension so cant go any further back. is there any way of adding 2 links on the chain it is 106 at the moment or should i get a new smaller tyre oh and its on 14/44 sprockets

I think biggest you get away with is 120-90-18 most run 110-90-18 .I run co2 stone king in that size and it close but performs excellent very happy with it never counted the links sorry . I know some guys on here run more trials based tyres that suit there local terrain ie stony lanes .plenty info if you search the forum.

Even 100x18 tyres do it on mine, but that's Pirelli MT 43.

I've patched my mudflap with some "milk bottle" plastic stuck on using a soldering iron

The tyre used to rub even that concoction away

I have even taken the flap off the bike until the tyre wears enough to replace without rubbing it away.

Keep an eye on it and keep it cleaned then you'll not have much bother.

As they say at the garage - "They all do that!" biggrin

You could add riveted links into the chain but I wouldn't trust more than one clip link in the chain. Mind you I'm not sure if it will work being that the adjuster is on 7 already.. The links will have to be the same brand and model as is on there or the pins may be a different size and may not peen over enough etc

thanks fellas looks like new chain and bit bigger rear sprocket or new tyre.will give the milk bottle welding a crack
