I paid $2500 for the other one. It's in reasonable nick, not as good cosmetically as my old one but it had $1500 spent on a very recent topend rebuild and its done 9900klms.
Essentially it will be, swap my exhaust, carb, suspension, starter, front brake, clutch perch and switch and get some rego. :)
I bought mine back for $200, a few scratches and bent rear subframe - so that was a bargain. Out of the whole transaction I've ended up with a profit and 2 ttrs and a spare everything. I think I'll send the spare suspension to Teknik Suspension in NSW and see if they can do a similar thing for the ttr that they do for the WRR's.
Leigh,
Good result from a prang!!
$200 buyback on yours is a huge win, parts galore. you can now pick and choose the good bits.
Good move on the suspension, that's always the best mod on TTR's (along with derestricitng a a pipe)
Choice suspension (Kyneton) did mine massive improvement.
Before I lost the plot and upgraded the forks and shock again :0 . I have the upgraded suspension waiting to go in a 2nd bike.
The guy who did my shock Ian who has a business in singleton called Promoto , did mine he used to work for Technic he did mine with the new internals oils and seal a couple of years ago for $175.00 and i have him doing another for my DR at the moment , can all be organised using Australia post .

Me having a TTR & WRR both from new I found the TTR to be better than the WRR in the rear, but the WRR is better in the front...Both stock BTW. I think the TTR is more stable in rough going but the WRR is better in the faster stuff.
Would love to know just how much better the upgraded suspension is over the stock OEM & if it's worth the extra $$$

Sorry for the thread hijack but,
Terry,
If you are riding rougher terrain I would definitely recommend (on your comments) at least getting the forks done, if riding roads don't worry. I think the Flinders ranges etc qualifies as rough terrain, so,:
Send them off to a reputable suspension expert who has done TTR250's in the past. That way you aren't paying for him to learn how to set them up at your expense but paying for his knowledge. Don't ask how I know!!
Fork springs are usually too soft unless you are a jockey. Rear spring is heavier usually ok unless you are a fat bastard. So get them sprung for your riding weight, revalved, ( for both compression but particularly to control that rebound) a service. fresh oil. You will be surprised by how good they are. So much so that you will notice the back isn't as good as the front! So you may as well get the shock serviced/revalved at the same time.
The forks will ride higher in the stroke with the heavier springs and be in the plusher part of the valving. Will feel much more modern.. You don't have to pick lines as much just ride. And you can launch off those erosion mounds in the high country.
If you do get it done you will ride the TTR way more. And don't tell your mates you ride with, it's like cheating, they will just think you are a gun rider!!
Just my thoughts

Hmmm upside down photos, no matter which way I do them.
Getting there, all there is left to do tonight is put new tyres on and a rear reflector for the rego peeps. See how I go getting it registered, prob something I've overlooked.
So far I've stripped my old bike completely, it looks a bit sad sitting on the floor. I'll prob remove the engine/wiring etc later and put the frame up on the wall or something :)
Swapped a fair bit over, inc. suspension, starter, battery, camcover and seal, new clutch cover seal, my carb, exhaust, full front brake and switch, clutch and switch, new indicators and number plate holder etc. About 10h work so far and first attempt at rego tomorrow......
Interesting doing a few things in stages, the biggest performance enhancer was to pull the snorkel from the airbox. Exhaust and carb didn't change much with that still in there. With it out....big difference.
About the only things in the future will be getting the suspension worked in the next month or 2 and a shorty header :):):) My old motor may be rebuilt to a 350 sometime.......well see.

I guess your brain gets used to being upsidedown after a while?
Your pannier setup looks nice and compact. Nice pics, thanks for making me jealous, again.
Haha, not sure if it is a down under thing or not :)
Wish I could figure out how to rotate them, annoying!
I've got an R80 from mosko moto. Such a good bit of kit, so easy to live with and if you want it is about 2 mins to take off the bike, throw in the tent and ride without and a good 5mins to put back on. Super versatile. Riding proper offroad with all my camping gear etc and it is pretty dam good.
