I can see an engine under there Dave so that's good! I confess to just blasting the power washer under the tank from the front and rarely take it off for cleaning. Mine never gets that dirty though
Regarding the sprag clutch, if when you shut the engine down you occasionally get a bang that makes you wince then its time to replace the sprag. It should give a satisfying clunk if OK.
I have given up trying to tell how good a sprag clutch is from looking at the teeth. Quite often a worn sprag can look perfect. I use the "bang/wince" test
On a different point, your decompressor plug might be leaking. Looks a bit oily in that area (just above the exhaust port).
Thanks Brian.... I'd love to know the difference from a clunk to a bang!!!
Yes the decompressor plug was leaking that's why I bought a new ally one!!
Done the brake light switch/lever,chain and sprockets, air filter..got the oil to do that's why I was thinking maybe I should look at the sprag etc...but if it's difficult to tell by looking then I dunno really.
If it was a £50 type fix I'd do it regardless but im a tight arse and loathed to change it if it's ok.... then again an expensive fix if left... decisions decisions. .
Ta dave
Ok I've just put her together and she clunks on nearly every time I stop her it's not a bang and it is sometimes quieter than other times so I think I've put my mind at rest....I'll have a look at the video again if I can find it but I think it's similar. It's a shame I ner got to meet "Fixer" as he may have told me the bikes history... it seem like someone changed the bolts...?on another note what's meant to be here other than ice cream containers!!
