Yamaha Majesty YP 250 scooter, the starter from that will fit if you change the rear mounting
point from the ttr starter over to the majesty starter, the starter will then be an exact match
for the ttr, i have done it to mine and it is working perfect. The Majesty starter is also a Mitsuba
SM-13 starter,

That may help you, they can be got cheap enough from a breakers.

Got a spare body off an original TTR starter here - PM me if you decide not to go with a whole starter wink

Out of interest, was your starter an after-market Chinese copy? If so, this isn't the first one for the magnets to have come unstuck and broken against the armature no

Oh yeah, welcome to the forum biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Bike back up and running!
Went down the YP250 scooter root, got the new starter from Hi-Level part No 519523.
Total cost £38 which his a vast saving on a patern TTR starter!

It was quite straight forward to change the end casing, on checking the motor by hand it kept jamming, due to too much end float/simple fix by placing another fibre washer on the armature.

Thanks again for all the advice......blankstare

Good fix Richard!

When you had the end off the starter, is the design of the magnets better than the after-market TTR250 one or is it the same?
