Valve shim specs- what's everyone running?

Hi everyone. I bought a 2002 model last year in complete pieces (engine the lot) and am just about to fire it up. All I need is to set the valves and the shims were missing. I had the head reconditioned but I would like to know what valve shim specs everyone is running so I can set the valve clearances as a starting point?

Cheers

Benny.

Can only help with with the exhaust valve shims, just checked through the thread I posted when I done mine.
I have 165 shims in both exhaust valves. This was after lapping the valves in.

Locky's suggestion is good. To get a starting point, just use what you have, smallest possible so that you get a gap.

What did you get done to the head when it was reconditioned?

Thanks everyone. I don't have any shims to start with, they were missing from the start. Just need a base setting so I can go down and get 4 to start with. The head had the valves lapped and new stem seals. They said it was in very good condition.

Cheers.

Maybe someone in Oz can lend you some? You only need a pair to get you started. Do one camshaft at a time.
