The day was forcast as sunny an bright and they was not rong. the weather was cracking as we headed out from crediton to north Tawton with the sun in are eyes for the first group of lanes taking in the od lane on the way there it was not like we had been thinking it was going to be nice and muddy. we had had a full day of heavy rain in the week an to start with we could find neather soft mud or puddles . this trip was to take in some of the lanes we tend to miss out a bit on the normal run's as they are dead ends/ over grown/ to nasty to try on your tod/ nasty farm Dog's/ to many walkeskind of thing.at North Tawton we found one with a gate tyed across it wich was a bit of a bitch to move even with the two of us then on to stockley pomory finding a dead end lane there badly over grown with over two feet of grass grown in it and you just could not see the rut's we turned tail half way in as it was just to much hard work in the hidden rut's . then on to 4 more nice lanes there before crossing to taw green and a nice washed out lane there that i had spent an hour in 3 months back fighting to get the bike up that we took with ease this time as we went down it not up. before a lane that's marked on the maps with a lookout for the ankle biting terry and chaind dobberman well im happy to say both dogs are still alive and had chains this time as the terry was hanging off my mates boot last time there in the farmyard keep well to the left the farmer has the chain lenth set so the dogs can make the half way across the track. we where now on the edge of the Moor as we made are way past sticklpath taking in the lanes on the way we found the od puddle and bit of mud on are way for a pasty at chagfordwe found the place very quite for this time of year and a lack of the useuly walkers around. after getting a pasty re fuel we cut for home by way of South Tawton and the lanes there before hitting the tarmac back to Crediton. what a cracking day out an not a bad pasty too

Great report. You managed to capture the dogs going wild then! Pretty little ford in pic 40/41, filling up with red diesel in pic 25 was he?! Honda XL185S in the background of pic 33 I see.
What a lovely day to have been out on Devon's lanes Pug!
I think they folk at Bude Farm have got a new terrier if he is fast enough to catch you. The previous terrier had got slower and slower and was easy to get by. He must have trained the new one well before retiring
Yep that ford is a favourite of mine never to deep it's looking a little worse for wear as some 4x4 has ripped it up a bit. and was nice to have both dog's on chain's this time past that farm a little further on as well my mate tom had the little basterd on his boot for 30yards last time i was there with him. matey with the Ford had 10 gallons of red he was about to pour in that car country folk what you going to do with them............. and we should have stopped and had a longer look an natter with the Honda xl owner nice old chap said he had some bigger bikes in the shed. An xl 185 was one of my first bikes and well nice lane bikes they make.
Brian been past there lot's of times but this was the first time the terrier has been on a chain as well..................

just like the Shepherds Pie I made the other night but with pastry instead of mash
A minced beef and onion pie then, much different to a fine westcountry pasty! Why make your own when there are fine establishments around knocking out fantastically fresh and tasty ones!...

Oh no mine are much better than that, carrots, peas, corn, herbs and spices all cunningly combined
I have a pie shop up the mountain from my place, good place to stop in an a wet and dreary day like today is, 50 or so varieties all made there and great coffee or hot chocky as well

Just thought I'd join in with the animal love (so to speak)
Left to right, Teddy (Cavalier King Charles), Belle (Burmese), Maynard (Siamese) and Lilly (Cavalier King Charles). Carnage in our hours when they start playing!

Hey Pete, don't forget that most Aussie's are descended from a bunch of British criminal bread thieves
Were just trying to live up to our past
