Well given todays weather, I had to go on another jaunt......
Off to Whaley Bridge for some petrol, then...
Up Shallcross Road
And along Long lane, both nice and easy, Shallcross more rocky and fun!!
Then over to Doveholes,
Up Bee Low, where we stopped to let a nice horsie pass,
Then through the Quarry, had to stop for some BIG tipper trucks, This track is very gravely, further along not my favorite medium I must say!!
After that , went over to Hay, lane, this starts off as a typical farmers track, but the end bit id quite a rocky incline, its where I took my first tumbel, but not so today!!!
Safely to the top Yay!!
Then through Tideswell and headed over to Great Hucklow, via
The penine Bridleway, part of which was Monksdale lane, which I have to say was more hard work than fun, rutted muddy farm track :(
Up the hill in Great Hucklow
Went past the Gliding club and along Brough lane,
Easy track, pretty much like that all the way along but great neverthless and fantastic views
Then Down into Shatton via..
Townsfield lane, Dirt track, but great quick hill climb.
Then for lunch went to the highest place nearby, Shatton Edge up Shatton lane,
This actually used to join up with brough lane, but the cynics put a 500 metre Restriction between the two!!
After Lunch it was through Hope and up Pin Dale, a great rocky hill climb, stopped for a bunch of about 20 very nice walkers, one of which said the tracks should be open to all!!
Followed on by Dirtlow rake
Then down Mam Tor
And into Castleton Before heading home..... Another clean sheet in the falling off department!!
Great write up/report, Rick, and smashing pictures too.
I can remember the Mam Tor road when it was a road.
I used to go from Edale and Barber Booth then up Mam Tor (hairpins) and join the main road near Rushup Edge. Then turn left to go down Winnats Pass into Castleton.
That must have been in the late 60s before the land slip took the road away and left it all warped.
Cor ....... brings back memories ......... thanks.
Definately going to go with the gopro baggers? I have a drift and I think its handy having a rotatable lens, meaning you dont always have to have the camera mounted perfectly upright. Some like to be able to mount on side of helmet or on bike or at funny angles etc
