As the frame on the OE is in a poor state I have decided to tear the bike apart once the salt etc has gone from the roads, I can then use the Tuono daily. I am thinking of doing the frame gloss black and maybe the same with the swing arm also. The main concern I have are the nuts/studs which hold the header pipe on as they are in a poor state, lots of wd40 will be needed I think. Will post before and after photos when I go ahead with the project.

I doubt WD40 will help much. Once rusted on, the exhaust nuts are usually there to stay no

They usually come out OK with the studs attached! Just make sure that your socket goes on well.....

The RH footpeg bolts, rear mudguard back bolt, and number plate holder bolts always challenge me.

Thanks for the tips Brian, I may have to sound proof the garage to stifle the language then 😱

Nice, i shall look forward to seeing the photos, maybe the swingarm will get chipped perhaps if you paint it?? I know powdercoating is quite durable...confuseA nice bit of heat to tricky steadfast bolts usually works doesnt it. Wd40/gt85 never penetrates as deep as they say.smile

I done my frame gloss black, here's the thread so you can see what it looks like  http://ttr250.activeboard.com/t59111364/lockys-ttr/

My exhaust studs came out with the nuts so i renewed thew studs and used copper nuts.

Thanks Locky, I haven't seen too many of the older bikes with a black frame though. Mine my bike won't be off road much pete, after having a low speed off in the snow recently I realise my back won't be up to off roading so swing arm should be OK
