Fitting a USB power supply for GPS, mobile phones etc

I gave my brother Trev a hand to fit a twin USB power port on his TTR today. This is the unit:

It was disappointing that the handlebar mount couldn't be used as there isn't room between the bars and the top yoke for the fitting. Suddenly a simple job becomes a bit of a challenge no

The only sensible solution I could find was to bolt it to the headlight surround which seems to be OK. Just need to fit a block connector into the power supply to allow the headlight unit to be taken off without removing the USB port. Needed to buy some 20mm long 4mm bolts (from Screwfix) to fit as the bolts supplied were too short.

An alternative mount (owner made!) from Tim that doesn't require drilling the headlight surround biggrin

Thanks for the pics Tim.

Brian

PS Is yours working OK? Trev hasn't tried his yet.

Has anyone got a link to one of the USB power supplies they have fitted by any chance. There are lots available with differing reviews on Amazon, so its always nice to have one someone can recommend both for quality, ease of fitting and reliability. Thanks
