Thankyou, i had trouble deciding on frame colour but i'm very happy with the gloss black. I think grey/silver would also look good.

Very nice and pleasant looking bike that you've made there, Locky.

I confess that I prefer a motorbike frame to be black - it looks a lot more "proper job" in my opinion.

It will compliment your stable of bikes, well done.  smile

I seem to have fallen into that mode cry

I go out to the workshop to work on the 325 engine build and end up tidying the bench or tools and doing silly little jobs instead disbelief

My problem is not having the pressure of a deadline I think.........

Thanks for the compliment Cubber. I fitted the bash plate earlier, i'll take another pic the weekend now it's all finished. I still need to take the carb apart to check the pilot jet is 100% clear and a few other very small jobs. I also plan on getting front and rear fender bags for tools and tubes but there's no rush as i won't be out on the trails till march at least. I can't wait to take it down to Marlborough/Salisbury for a few days on the lanes.

Finished biggrin

20150131_122037.jpg

I took it for a ride today to get it MOT'd (passed) and it rides nice. I'm very happy with the way it's turned out and i'm sure it will be great on the green lanes.

The exhaust was a bit smokey for the first few miles but seems to have cleared, i did fill it up with petrol so could have been the old stuff causing it. The bike had stood for a while before i got it and i'm unsure how old the fuel was. Iv'e just taxed it, only £38 for the yearbiggrin

Thanks again Brian, bit cold for me at the moment but it won't be long before i go to my local trails. They will be very muddy this time of year and the water crossings could be deep.
I can't wait to trailer it down to Marlborough/Salisbury for a weekend of off roading with a few mates.

I can see me keeping this bike for many years, it's what i wanted and more. I can see it being a nice bike to ride on the harder trails, very easy to maintain/service and spares at the right money. What more could you want ?

I rode it again today and the exhaust was smokey for the first few minutes ! I thought it was a one-off yesterday but i'm now thinking it could be the valve stem oil seals. Apart from this it runs well.
As anyone else had this problem ?

Sounds like VSOs but the test is whether the engine uses oil. If it doesn't then VSOs are almost certainly the cause of smoking on start up. Nowt to worry about. Just replace them in the future if and when you have to take the head off.

Yes i bet the seals have gone hard from age and the bike stood for some time. I'll keep my eye on the oil level and see how it goes. It's another job that i'd enjoy doing so i'm not to bothered about it. I might even go as far as a bigger piston if i had to take the top end off.

I think i'm going to get it sorted sooner, if it don't use any oil (i don't think it will) i'll order the gaskets and seals.

Thanks Pete, yes it's turned out great and i'm very happy with it. I have the top end off at the moment for a refresh as it was like a 2 stroke for the first 30 seconds then it would clear.
New valve stem oil seals, rings and a good clean up of all the related bits. ttr250.activeboard.com/t59582015/valve-stem-oil-seal-replacement/
Thought i'd get it done now while the weathers not so good.
