The east coast of Australia is becoming harder to find bush to ride in. This police squad booked riders in port maquarie lately which is in NSW Half way up the east coast between Sydney and Brisbane (G 20 meeting world leaders). Plenty of bush in big Aussyland out west but its a 3 hour drive from where i am at Tweed heads. Anyway im enjoying the TTR on the streets in low traffic areas and sneak into local bush now and again for a quick bushbash. Photo is of NSW police. it didnt say if they were 250---450 WRs.
I've heard of them but have never seen them in 30 years in the forests , 3 years a go the police borrowed my mates DRZ stuck a few stickers and used in a local TV news segment about the trail bike squad saying to behave because they will be out and about , pulled the stickers off and returned the bike
As its ok to ride in our forests In New south wales it would be good to have them around to ensure bikes are registered and thus insured in the case of an accident id rather be involved in an accident with an insured rider , as well as a back up for all the people doing the right thing out there .
First impressions are that they are trying to stop riding in the forest but in fact supporting it by ensuring it is conducted Legally and responsibly ,
Maybe 30 years ago I wouldn't have made the same statement

I've come across the Police on bikes a few times in the Watagans State Forest NSW. They are actually pretty good blokes.
In NSW, it is legal to ride in State Forests if you are licensed and the bike is registered (registration includes insurance if you are injured in an accident). The Police are after the unlicensed and/or unregistered. They don't worry about registered bikes being completely legal (I've taken the mirrors and indicators off), they are just after the big offenders.
