Coil and plug cap supplier

Does anyone know where I can get a new coil+lead+plug cap from in the UK? Brian doesn't seem to list them and I can't find one online. Alternative fitments also fine, doesn't need to be original just reliable.

The Yamaha OEM ignition coil assembly is part # 29U-82310-41 and is £71.65 inc VAT plus carriage from Fowlers.

I am pretty sure it only fits the TTR250 so it’s unlikely that there will be an after-market version. It would be good to proved wrong though!

They all look the same whatever year TTR they are off but let me know the year of manufacture of your TTR and I will check.

What's happened to yours?

Mine's a 94.

I'm trying to track down the cause of a misfire under load. I rebuilt the barrel with new gaskets a while back to cure an oil leak and it's not run well since. I've not had any time to look at it until recently.

I've put a new spark plug in and that made it a bit better but while it idles fine and runs fine at low speed as soon as you try to wind it up it starts to intermittently misfire and becomes incredibly jerky. I can't find any air leaks in the intake, I've cleaned the carb and get a jet of fuel from the nozzle when I open the throttle with gusto.

Can't think of anything else other than the coil and lead.

Have you checked that the cam timing is still correct? One tooth out causes the symptoms you describe.

There are a few threads about this which you may have seen but here is a pic of how the cam sprockets should line up with the engine at TDC (use the single NOT double mark on the flywheel)

I will check it all again this weekend though. Every possibility now looks like it'll cost money so a little time rechecking stuff is probably a good plan ;)

That's interesting - the 1994 TTR uses part # 1UY-82310-41

Do you know if the plug cap is the resistor type or will any old rubber plug cap work?
