Will a WR250F rear wheel fit a TTR??? and other rear wheel alternatives
Permalink

Hi all

can anyone tell me for if any other yamaha rear wheels from other models fit the ttr oe ?

Are all ttr250 rear wheels the same size across the entire range from early oe's to the blue smurf models? aww

Thanks Andy

According to Pekka Lehtonen on the Totally TTRs Facebook page, "Pre 1998 YZ rear hub is a close fit. Same axle dia but narrower spacer on sprocket side. And about 5mm narrower sprocket to disk spacing."

Regarding TTR rear wheels, apparent from colour, they are interchangeable across all the years wink

I was speaking to a customer today who is fitting 17" SM wheels to his TTR. He couldn't find TTR wheels so tried a DT125 rear wheel and, by fitting TTR250 bearings and spacers, he said it was a perfect fit!

Sadly that wasn't the case with the DT125 front wheel he bought with it cry

So if anyone has a TTR front wheel (silver or purple rimmed) or just the hub in good condition, for sale please let me know.

Brian

WR250F dirtbikes have 18" rear wheels. Always have. Your mate must have a YZ250F rear wheel mounted on his bike. As for it fitting a ttr250, I'm not sure. Is there anyway that the seller can send u some measurements to get an idea?

Thnx guys for the imfo. Best way i guess is to try the wheel on. Will see what the seller says about doing that. And will post update later down the track.

the answer to your question "will it fit" Or can it be made to fit.... Yes
Will it be a straight bolt in fit maybe not... have to try...

The spare rear wheel for my XT660R was donated by a Honda XR650L...
Had a narrower hub so spacers for the sprocket/disc & new custom axle spacers..

Did anyone bottom this one out and, if so, how please?

The TTR hub is 8mm wider than the WRF so it isn't possible to line up the brake disc (the TTR one fits straight on) and sprocket (the TTR one doesn't fit so a WRF one is needed) without some sort of spacer for either or both.

I realise that new bearing spacers would also be needed as the TTR axle is much smaller in diameter. What metal should be used to turn these up from?

Final question - is it worth the effort? TTR rear wheels are hard to come by and expensive. WRF wheels seem more plentiful.

The Yamaha Dt 125 rear is the same you can for the ttr spacers if you also fit ttr bearings this makes it a direct fit and is exsactly the same rear hub.
