Buy new TTR 250
Permalink

Hey,

I'm new.. Just wondering if there's still any countries in Europe, or anywhere selling new TTR250's. Also, I'm guesing it does, but does anyone know if it shares the engine with Yam's other 250's (serow, xt, trickers, wr250r, etc!)

Many thanks for any help.

Welcome to the forum Her. Whereabouts are you based? It would be good to see some basic info on your profile wink

As far as I know the TTR is no longer in production (happy to be contradicted!) and the last market was Australia (2012?) where there are still some new "old stock" TTRs available from dealers.

The TTR doesn't share its engine unit with any other Yamaha.

Sorry I missed that all filled in. I'm in France.

Do you think it's likely to become difficult to get parts for?

Im trying to decide between the ttr and a drz400.

I know the drz has many after market parts and millions of them around but im a big Yamaha fan and the ttr250 appeals more to me.

"Bonjour, Her, bienvenue sur le forum TTR." wink

Do not hesitate - buy a TTR - you know you must.

Running spares are not too difficult to obtain - Totally TTRs has all serviceable parts at reasonable prices and postage. smile

Hello Her and welcome to the forum handshake.gif

The blue 1999-2012 TTR's are all the same except a few irrelevant minor differences like decals. These models use a blue plastic tank and a mechanical speedo.

The older 1993(92?)-1999 steel tank Open Enduro models have different color schemes and use a digital speedo.

A few links to check out-

http://ttr250.activeboard.com/t50132262/wondering-about-model-differences-or-year-model/

I have a full comprehensive service manual in PDF format for the blue model that I can send once I receive a PM. The older Open Enduro model manuals can be downloaded from Yamaha Australia here- http://www.yamahaownershandbook.com.au/index.php . Unfortunately, the are not very ''comprehensive'' but at least include a wiring diagram (which is slightly different to the blue models).

Enjoy the forum!

Jarrah

Ps. I am pretty sure Brian will have no dramas sending you a quote on any items that you desire + postage. I am not sure on whether or not your country charges importing fees but it would be a good idea to Google it to be sure. Brian will probably know...

Hi Jimmy and thanks for adding details to your profile - much appreciated wink

We are happy to send to France. We already have some customers there. There are no customs charges between EU countries so the price we quote is the final price that you pay.

Thanks that all sounds great and its a great community.

I will look for the newer blue one, since its not possible to buy a new one. I like working on motorbikes but trying to avoid surprises from past neglect. Many people here don't ever even change oil.

Jarrah I will probably get a message to you for one of those manuals and have it printed into a book. Very kind of you.
