Hello all

I entered the taffy Dakar, which is a motor biking orienteering event in the welsh valley's. Managed to blag a ride with last years champions (the devon druids) It is only in it's second year. There were about 140 riders and about 40 odd teams I thinkconfuseconfuse Anyway it was a great weekend, lot's of laugh's booze and trailssmilesmilesmile

Started of really well and our map leader was doing a  really good job, Nick map reading, Paul waypoint organizer, me general dog's body and gate shutter, which I enjoyed as it meant I could chase down the others, once they went throughbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin After a few hours nick thought they might be able to retain last years title and went full throttle from then onsmilesmilesmile Done a nice tricky lane called Sarn Helen, that I done cleanevileyeevileye Lot's of other great lanes up in them there valley's.

All of the Taffy team made us feel really welcome and the pub and camping facilities were spot on.

 May look easy, but plenty of riders took a swim herebiggrinbiggrinbiggrin The climb down was loose rock and big drops, very tricky, but great funsmilesmilesmile

The old TTR did me proud and made a lot more shiny bikes look sillybiggrinbiggrinbiggrin It's not what you got it's how you ride it and the TTR does me proudsmilesmilesmile

Apparently we missed out winning by 10 secondscrycrycry next time I will leave the sheep alonebiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

There are rumours of sprocket trouble on your TTR come the end and there may be photo evidence of it?

Knew that was comingwinkwinkwink had to tighten my chain on Saturday during the event, but no drama. Got taken for a ride out by the welsh boy's on the sunday. I bailed out about 1.30 in the afternoon, as I wanted to get home to see the kid's and the... ahem.... wife, bless her. Anyway got about 6 miles from camp and the chain started to slip again, tightened it and carried on and it started to slip againconfuseconfuseconfuse Had to limp back to camp and found thisomg.gif

In my defence, I have only been trail riding for just over 2 years and getting used to this maintenance stuff. That is a proper round sprocket though and I think I will try to modify the cover, so it is easier to inspectblehbleh By the way the peg's are the extra wide one's and are brilliantsmilesmilesmile

I inspected the rear sprocket and chain before the event, but as these looked Ok'ish, didn't think to check the front sprocketcrycrycry I have heard that if you run your chain to tight , it could wear out the sprockets quickerconfuseconfuseconfuse How tight should your chain beconfuseconfuseconfuse

I think i was with ye on the Sunday spin Steve on a blue ttr . . We stayed going till late about 6 i think .
Clocked up 96 miles . Was one of the best days out ever.
No problem with bike only the wheel bearings and the light got rattled to bits later .
Got me home to Ireland the next day about a hundred bikes on the boat .
Great to meet you had a good laugh .

Not closed at the moment, but believe it is trying to be closed, not sure by who, but they have not been successful yet. Ride it while you canfuriousfuriousfurious As it is one of the best lanes I have donesmilesmilesmile Would love to have that lane just down my roadwinkwinkwink
