Hello folks,  I came across a yamaha workshop manual recently and noted the main jet size is listed as 137, mine has a 147 and an FMF powercore pipe, does this sound correct as I am diagnosing a dying issue after a short "coshing", starts again easily with a little choke (weak), the pilot screw was only 1/2 turn out and the float height a little high (7-9mm) these have both been sorted but I am lacking faith !
Any comments appreciated as i will be on the york moors this coming saturday

What year is your TTR?

Most of the UK "blue" TTRs have a 147/50 jet combination. Earlier models usually have a 142/48 combination.

When an engine dies like that it is usually when opening the throttle when the engine is still relatively cold and the choke is off making the mixture too weak to allow the revs to pick up.

Yes it's a blue 04 model so that makes sense

Check the petrol flows out freely when you open the float bowl drain valve to make sure no blockages in the petrol tap, petrol lines and float valve filter and make sure that the one-way air valve in the petrol cap is working. Easier to check the cap by blowing and sucking on the tube going into the cap though.

Checked the float valve filter whilst checking/cleaning jets-all fine, have inspected the fuel tap and the breather hose in the filler cap works OK.

I'll know more after the weekend, hopefully whatever it is/was has been cleared.

it ran like a dream and started every time first whiff of the button so that was adjusted float height and pilot jet ( I think that was the main thing), just wished I hadn't binned it in that big puddle.
