Sticking rear brake

I guess this is not a new topic but any suggestions would be appreciated. I stripped the caliper off on Sunday the piston moves ok, I cleaned everything and put it back together but it is still sticking. I noticed the pins that hold the pads were corroded a bit, not sure if this is the cause though.

If the pins do not move freely or do not have adequate grease, the brake will drag. They are just as important as the piston.

I would suggest that you flush the brake line out by bleeding as the hose could have contaminants in it that may be causing it to stick.

You need to check that the caliper is moving freely on the slide pins that it slides on, if not remove the caliper from the carrier and clean and lube the slide pins.

Remove the pad retaining pins that you mention and clean the corrosion from them, give them a light coat of anti seize grease before refitting.

Managed to get time to strip the caliper again, the bottom slide pin is really corroded. I went onto Brian's site but could only see the pins that the pads slide on, is it possible to replace the other pins (the ones that let the caliper move)

Yes, Brian supplied me the 2 slide pins and rubber gaiters not long back, transformed my brakes!

A wee update, got new pins and caliper seals from Brian ( great service) and still no joy. So stripped the caliper off the bike for a better inspection. Found that the body of the caliper had a dent in it and was pushing the dust seal up. Previous owner must have hit it with a hammer or similar. Anyway ordered a second hand one from eBay so fingers crossed this will get me back on the road.

That's the bike back on the road, it's now pulling 125kph on the flat. It's amazing how well it goes without a dragging brake
