This may be a difficult one as I am not mechanically minded so explaining my problem may be difficult, anyway I went on a ride yesterday when it never stopped raining after about 3 hours my bike started missing and jumping and popping sound at 3 and half hours every time I tried to put power on the bike just died my son checked the carb and all seems well ,air filter fine what else would be worth looking at. one other thing I would like to ask can I get a carb for this bike which is a white ttr250 enduro.
Drain the carb float bowl and, if you can, catch what comes out to see if the problem was caused by water in the carb.
Water is heavier than petrol and usually just sits in the bottom of the float bowl out of harms way - if there isn't a lot of it.
However, if there is enough of it, or it gets real shook up, then a blob of water can sit under the jets in such a way that allows the bike to idle but, when the throttle is opened, a droplet is sucked up and blocks the jet. Back off the throttle, droplet sinks and bike idles again..........
Thanks guys don't think its carb as that's been drained as regards ignition starts okay its just when I try to apply power with the throttle, when its on idle ticks over fine but if I turn throttle for power that's when I have problmes.I will get it sorted I suppose before Easter hopefully and I cant complain its the first problem I have had since purchasing it from this site about last July.
Id try saking everything electrical with duck oil / wd40 or similar with the engine cold and if that doesnt sort it try the same with the carb rubber etc with engine running to try and rule that out
Dropped mine in a river yesterday and it didnt run right for a while till it warmed up ,i cover mine with a duck oil / engine oil mix after every ride for this reason ,wd40s only good for making your plastics shiny
Also brian may be onto something with the fuel cap breather i had that problem with an old honda bigred work quad (i used to be a shepherd) it would run for 2-3 hours then cut out and wouldnt run till you opened the fuel cap and the tank wouldnt suck in as it was steel just like a white OE TTR !

Just thinking out of the box here ,has the bike got the standard switch on the side stand ? as they wont rev if the switch is telling the bike the stands down

You guys are so helpful but I have done everything suggested and still no joy , come weekend when I am off I will have more time to delve a little further.
Start simple matey, that side stand switch is a pain in the arse. If you get stuck drop me a line and put the kettle on :)
Thanks buddy I will have a better look Saturday Morning when im off but I cant explain any better than I have I apply throttle engine just dies when on idle its fine everything checked as suggested.maybe jets need replacing ???
