Output Shaft Bearing - After New Chain And Sprokets
Permalink

Hi all advise if possible over the web?

Fitted a new chain and sprocket 14/52 to my lovely TTR I have started to notice quite a bit of noise coming from front sprocket area I think? Under load.

Example: cruising at 30mph then slowly wind on throttle get a knock...knock... knock then slowly goes away. almost like it was in wrong gear.

Looked at chain and may be a little tight... so will adjust.

Never adjusted the chain block at the back was trying to find best fit for this! Is there guidance after changing sprockets.

MAIN Question? I have noticed that the output shaft has some float on it in and out, going to check up and down tomorrow. Is this normal should there be any float? Wondered if output bearing is on way out? Or it has two much load on it, chain tight etc.

Any suggestions ideas would be lovely...  smilesmilesmile

Bike running fine seems loads of power etc - have checked timing etc!

It would help to add what country you are from as the US version has a different chain guide suited for the 52 rear sprocket. All other models seem to require some modification of the chain guard. Some just elongate the blot holes, others go as far as making a mount. See here for more info-  http://ttr250.activeboard.com/t56913003/chain-guard-mod/

The other thing it could be is the case saver rubbing on the chain, see here for more info- http://ttr250.activeboard.com/t56961903/pictures-of-my-new-ttr/  http://ttr250.activeboard.com/t56967188/case-saver-grind-down/

A small amount of outwards play in the output shaft would be normal. Too much or up and down play would not be normal.
