a "new" bike with some issues

Hi,

Lately I've aquired this nice bike for good price. Unfortunatelly a good price usually has some price :). Most of the back frame brackets has been shaved. But making some indicators brackets won't be a hassle, about the rest.. well I will miss them. For the front indicators I have just one bracket and not original one because I have an aftermarket headlamp. Could anyone tell me from wich bike it can be?

I don't see any restrictor in the exhaust or anything. I wonder if such mod require rejetting. I have checked it cause there was lauder close to the exhaust clamp than on the end of silencer so I'm not sure if it was sealed properly.

Other things missing are:

- carburetor hose valve

- drain next to the airbox

Are this things important should I repleace them?

I know that here

should be some air hose. Where can I find it?

Next missings will come soon, stay tuned :).

The indicator bracket seems original-

US/CA headers don't have the restrictor fitted from factory. You do not need to re-jet to remove it. A simple adjustment of the jet needle C-clip position may be needed though.

The carb one-way valves are only important if you are crossing deep water.

From the picture, it looks like your oil separator is missing. I would be tracking a second hand one down as this separetes any water from the oil breather pipe (crankcase vent).

The carb breather pipes run from rear of the carb to the top of the airbox.

Hello Jarrah, thank you for your reply :).

I need to say that I'm a little bit confused about the indicator bracket cause on every scheme of TTR I see just head lamp/indicator bracket like this (P/N 16 and 17)

Capture.PNG

I can not not find anywhere the part number for this bracket :( nor in the manual neither in partzilla schemes.

I'm not going to cross any deep water but anyway I will replace the lacking hoses and valves with time. There is a second hand oil separator on polish ebay so lucky me :).

Hey Irve, the reason why you cannot find the bracket is that you are looking at the US finches. That is the US version of headlight that has no provisions for indicators,( like my TTR in the picture below-

I made the brackets and have now welded the nuts on. This is what they looked like before welding captive nuts on-

This was the engine bracket (the one that holds the rear brake reservoir line) before...

After..

However, the bracket you need is the AU/UK etc. version by the looks of it-

If I come across the part number I will let you know.

I went to yamaha dealer and he had found this bracket in his base but the price is 50 EUR :O so I will rather fabricate this or ask somebody to do it.
No I have to figure out what is the function of chopped wires in my electrical loom. Is there any electrical scheme including indicators and this indicator box next to the speedometer showing idle gear, lights on, blinkers on (don't know the name for it)?

"Totally TTRs" can supply genuine Yamaha headlight and indicator brackets for blue-tanked TTRs - see here

Also, an easier solution might be to fit the EU spec wiring loom which has all the indicator wiring etc incorporated - a new one is available here

Second-hand wiring looms are available for £40 plus p&p.

This is a pic of typical headlight connectors - your headlight connector block may differ:

And another pic with a more usual EU style headlight connector block:

Some more loom pics which may help:

Tail light connectors:

How else can we help?

Best regards

Brian

Jarrah,

I meant this magic box (indicators panel? just guesing) ;)

IMG_1303_cr.jpg

I don't know an english name for it.

However with blinkers it's simple (dark brown, black, dark green) I'm not so sure about the rest of wires because colors on the box differs from colors from the loom :/

box

box.JPG

in the loom it looks like this

kable.jpg

these are close to the steering and has been cut off. I'm wondering about the use for blue and brown ones.

Brian,

I want to assure you that I've seen all your goodies :).

I was considering your bracket but i prefer my cause it's just for the indicators. I have a different headlite mounted differently.

My loom i general seems to be ok. Headlite, stoplite, taillite, horn, starter works ok only above wires are waiting for extension and connection.

With your loom's pictures I can gues that dark blue should goes to speedometer.

Now I will deliberate on the others hmmmmm

I think your loom has some different wires in it compared to mine.

The pics below show the location of wires in the 6-way connector block that goes to the warning (sometimes called "idiot") light binnacle.

speedo connector 1.jpg

speedo connector 2.jpg

So I have a light and a dark blue wire but no striped blue wires confuse

I believe these pictures explain everything. Three brown and two blue a little bit different tint and markings but general rule seems to be the same.

Thank you Gentelmen. :)
