I went on a big ebay bender and order a chain and sprocket kit. I don't nessacerly need the new chain, but I sure don't mind having a spare. The sprockets are 13t front and 46t rear. I'm mostly doing street and fast trail riding with some occassional tight stuff. I'm guessing that 13/46 would be equal to 14/49? I'm currently at the us/can stock 13/52 which is extremely low. I'm hoping that the 13/46 will put me in a good spot. I'm also hoping to get the bike to rev to its full potential with this gearing. What do u think?
The best on-road combination for me is the standard AU gearing- 14/47 or 14/48. In saying that, you are not too far off. The only problem that I can see is that the 13T takes a fair bit off the top speed compared to a 14T and the rear is too small to use a 14T without losing too much bottom end.
Of course, you may have a different preference than myself.
