Hi all , I had a split in my fuel line and when I removed it I noticed that the fuel tap outlet tube was considerably bigger than the carb fuel inlet tube . Is this normal ? or has the wrong size fuel tap been fitted by the previous owner maybe ? if this is normal what size replacement fuel pipe should I buy to fit the two different size outlet/inlet pipes ? The fuel line I have to hand is 5 mm internal diameter , which fits the carb fuel inlet tube perfectly but will not stretch over the petrol tap outlet tube , even after softening the fuel line in some hot water . can anyone shed some light on this ? thanks . Tim.
My pipe doesn't leak and the bike doesn't suffer from petrol starvation. It works fine. (Up till now!)
The difference in bore size is that I usually remove the tap end to remove the tank and consequently is disconnected more often than the carburettor end.

Use 6mm ID fuel line!
The fuel hose is supposed to be larger at the tank than the carburettor, not that it needs to larger though.
