I had to get a stand for the TTR as my paddock stand wasn't that handy for it. I bought a kick stand from ghost Mc's for £28. I knew it wouldn't fit underneath so I made a couple of pads to go under the wheels from ply and 2x1. It works a treat even with my shot back. All in all a good, well made piece of kit.
Yep - nice one! My "damped" lift doesn't get the wheels off the ground if I lower the lifting plate to go underneath the TTR so I end up struggling to persuade the TTR upwards enough to go on my stand
That's a serious piece of kit Petenz. When on the stand the front tyre rests on the pad that I made , to lift it off you just push down on the seat a little and kick the pad away. Next job is stripping the rear caliper as it is dragging a bit

The usual cause of dragging is that one or both of the caliper slide pins are seized, especially if the rubber seals have been damaged or are perished. If that is the case then its worth considering replacing the lot - kits are available - see here.

That's interesting. I was looking at getting that very stand. It was the cheapest one I could find on-line. What do you mean it doesn't fit underneath? Won't the stand lower enough, or is the bike too tall to lift?

Sorry to hijack this thread: Are there any other decent priced stands people use for their ttr here? £28 is a great price but just wondered if anyone knows of any others that perhaps lift a bit higher?
