Flasher unit

G'day all,

only new to bikes and am having trouble with indicators. They were working a few days ago but now only the dash light stays on (no flash) and nothing from any globe.

I've fiddled with what connectors I can see but can't seem to trace the flasher.

Where will I find the flasher unit to check it? Is there only the one fuse on these bikes?

Brake light/ tail light works fine.

Thanks in advance,

P.

Sounds like you have a bad relay or crossed wires.

The TTR250 only has one 15amp fuse and is located above the battery box. However, this is not the problem. The flasher relay is under the fuel tank, see pictures-

If you live not too far from Ravenshoe, I would be happy to bring my TTR250 flasher unit along and assist you in fixing this.

Thanks mate,
I'm in Peeramon.
I'll have a look tonight and take the tank off.
I took the seat off yesterday but couldn't really get to it.
Great photos... how clean is that thing!!!
If they're not too dear I may just replace the flasher anyway.
Thanks for your help, I'll keep you posted.
P.

No problems

There is a second hand one on eBay atm $35.00 delivered- http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Yamaha-TTR-TT-R-250-Flasher-Can-Relay-Box-Blinker-Indicator-1999-99-/330835918151?pt=AU_Motorcycle_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4d075b7d47

The pictures are from when I rebuilt my bike. It has the usual wear marks now but still looks great. This was when I first rebuilt it-

If you have too many troubles with your bike, let me know and I will be happy to come have a look at it for you.

Hey thanks Jarrah,
I'll tackle the blinkers on the weekend and let you know.
I've also noticed a few bits missing on mine when I look at your photos. Chainguard, rear bars, toolbag, etc.
As I get to know it I'm sure I'll get serious about some things. At the moment I'm just loving riding it to work (although the hand-signals are getting a pain in the arse!)
I've also got a lower chain roller that's flogged out. Can I get these in Atherton or best on evil-bay?
Cheers for your help... I might ride up one day and say G'day.
Paul.

Hey Paul, no problems

If you go to Extreme motorcycles in Atherton you may be able to find one, they are rip offs though lol. I would recommend Atherton Motorcycles for any repair work, but they don't stock a lot of parts. However, I think you would find it cheaper to buy them on eBay.

Anytime you feel like dropping in, feel free, just give me some warning first and I'll let you know directions (not a big place Ravenshoe lol).

Hey Jarrah,
I took the tank off and pulled the relay out, plugged it back in and... presto, blinkers are now working.
Must've just been connection. I WD40'd the terminals and hasn't given me any trouble today.
Took it for a ride to the bottom of Bartle Frere this afternoon before work... Love it.
I took the chain roller off and just left the bolt there. It certainly quietens the drive noise without the roller there.
I'll measure the width and diameter of what's left and get a nylon one off ebay.
Cheers,
Paul.

Good news

Mt Bartle Frere sounds alright, never been there though I don't think. Have you been over Baldy Mountain yet?

Only walking...lol
Daughter has a overnight hike up there soon so I'll check out the tracks in behind Carrington with the 4wd when I'm up there.
Windin Falls is supposed to be good also but I've only ever walked it.
Paul
