Hi,

its a bit of a unusual request. but its been a bit serious issue over here. i have to say im not sure if this approach will work. still its worth a shot right smile

so long story short, sri lankan govenment has brought up a rule saying that riders cant wear full face helmets "from eyes to chin must be visible". the reason they mention is that there was "few" crimes where there were full case bikers were involved.

so there were a creation of a petition to push the government to remove this ban, so i was thinking that views of international people might help the story more smile

full story - http://www.dailymirror.lk/news/38350-no-mod-helmets-for-motorcyclists.html

thanks

What a narrow minded view on motorcycle safety.  disbelief no

It seems to me that Sri-Lankan motorcyclists need to get a representative group (like the UK's MAG) to campaing for sanity in making laws.

The Motorcycle Action Group sit on the panel of law makers in the UK so that this type of regulation can be weeded out BEFORE it's made into law.

This link takes you to the MAG site where you can have a look and possibly glean a few ideas. confuseconfuse

when full face helmets first came to AUSTRALIA there was a push to ban them on medical grounds. due to the added weight it was thought they may cause serious neck/spine injury to the wearer. personally I have never worn one, opting instead for an open face with a clear visor. I remember seeing a picture of BARRY SHEENE sitting on the starting grid somewhere having a smoke. he had drilled a hole through the chin guard of his fullface and just put the fag through it.
