LED lights are polarity conscious - swap the blue and black wires over wink

Hi Badmad,

Yes, you should be able to run a LED number plate light off the rear light. Did you try connecting the number plate light wires the other way round?
LEDs only work one way round, unlike ordinary bulbs.

Sorry if I'm stating the obvious

hi
Yes I tried the led in a few configuration's. The loose wires black and blue in the pic aren't live maybe a fuse not sure.
Would be easier for me to use the back light if the wires can take extra load all be it very very small I can't see the problem, I have however read you should not wire any extra load off back light due to burnt wires ???????

1. There is only one fuse in the TTR loom housed  in the white plastic holder sitting on the top of the battery box. The blue wires in the loom should all be constant live when the ignition is switched on. Are the blue wires at the headlight live? My guess is there is a dodgy connection somewhere.  I have to say that from personal experience those crimp connectors don't work very well on thin TTR wiring and I usually end up replacing them with soldered joints or Japanese bullet connectors.

2. The LED light draws such little power that you should be able to tap into any live wire and not cause problems.

The  blue wires do run off the fuse and are not constantly live. However, the blue wire is live when the Ignition switch is in the ON position.. If the headlight and electric start work etc., it cannot be the fuse.

The taillight uses such little power that it is okay to join into this and wire a numberplate light (as fitted standard). You should be running the numberplate light from the blue wire at rear of the bike.

CLICK THIS for a start. aww

It takes you to an article which describes changing the TTR oil and filter.

As Bugeye_bob says - there are plenty of guides - if only you would use the SEARCH facility. yawn
