Devon TRF section has set the dates for the 2014 A2E event.

March 21st to March 24th 2014 are the start and end dates of a trail riding bonanza in Britain's top trail riding county of Devon.

The fun starts as the entry gathers on Friday 21st March for Saturday's and Sunday's trail riding using the 240+ green lanes strung out between the River Axe and the River Exe.

All riding abilities are catered for, from novices to experts, and all bikes from tiddlers to big trailies - even TTR250s will be accepted.

Accommodation will be provided in fully equipped Holiday Homes with full English Breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday and a Hot Fork Buffet on Saturday evening.

For those that want it there will be camping grass pitches (with electricity connection) and hard standing pitches (with electricity, water and drainage) for camper vans and caravans.

The entry is not yet opened but "watch this space" for details.

Thank you for the heads up Martyn!

We have some great lanes here in East Devon so keep an eye open for when entries open as the places go fast.

Only one visitor on a TTR last year and he was in the group that I led on one of the days - can't recall which.

The way it is organised is that a group consists of six visitors with a local run leader and TEC (Tail End Charlie)

It would be good to be able to get a group of just TTRs biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Bookings now being taken from TRF members!

I will be leading a group on the Saturday with my bro' Trev acting as TEC (Tail End Charlie) and then we are swapping jobs on the Sunday.

If you are booking in and riding a TTR250 then you may like to ask our bookings guru (Cubber alias Martyn) to be included in "The TTR Group" biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

See https://www.dropbox.com/s/7cotsw7y1vjch5y/A2E%202014%20Advert.pdf for booking info, costs etc

Hope to see some forum members come along wink

How sloth of me. yawn Thanks for the reminder and link, Brian.

TTR entries would be more than welcome in the A2E event.

Devon lanes look nicer with blue bikes on them.

2 forum members (1 blue, 1 white, sorry Martyn!) and 2 mates with lesser makes are hoping to enter, but half of us are not YET TRF members. How long does it take to sell out, or can we book places whilst awaiting membership to be sorted?

Simon.

Technically, Simon, the A2E is only open to TRF members. hmm

It's also limited to around 60 entrants - otherwise the numbers overwhelm Devon's lanes and groups could clash if they met in oposite directions. noaww

The entry will remain open until at least the middle/end of February or later, so there would be ample time to join the TRF AND submit entries. smile

Any make of bike is welcome, but being a TTR owner myself I'm biased. biggrinbiggrin

I wasn't trying to work a flanker and get an entry without being a member, just wanted to make sure we had a couple of days leeway, and that the places wouldn't be filled within 24 hours of opening! As it is, there are now 3 of us with membership, the fourth should be by the end of the week...

Looking forward to exploring a bit further south than we normally do.

Cheers,

Simon.

Getting closer and still a few places left!

I will be leading a run on the Saturday with my bro' Trev as Tail End Charlie (TEC) and we will then do a different route on the Sunday with Trev leading and me acting as TEC.

Anyone on here booked?

You can guarantee it will be TTR friendly as that's what I will be riding biggrinbiggrin

Brian

PS to Martyn - any chance of posting up the latest flyer please?

A2E 2014 is full - to overflowing, and not just because of the monsoon weather we've just had. smile

                                          Brolly.jpg

There have been a total of 93 entries for around 60+ places.

Applications are being put into "Yes" and "No" groups to decide the successful numbers.

So - Sorry, NO MORE ENTRIES.

The morning started with a downpour - but after breakfast the sun started shining and peace reigned.

Olly gave a pep talk before the groups departed

Hi all,

I had a great weekend riding with the TTR group, despite a couple of quick hail storms

It was good meeting Brian,  Trevor and the rest of our group, and also Martyn briefly. Shame we didn't get to chat more.

Also a big thank you to Olly who took me to meet up with the group when a hicup with my bike prevented me from leaving with them.

However, questions were asked as to why there are more photos of us eating than riding, and there aren't even any photos of us eating ice creams on the beach!

If you get a chance to go next year  (assuming Devon TRF put it on again), I  thoroughly recommend it.

Hi Lama and thank you for your kind words! It is always a bit stressful in the lead up to the event making sure that routes are planned and checked to make sure the lanes are all passable etc plus its quite a responsibility having guests from afar who, quite rightly, have expectations that they are going to be properly entertained confuse

However, Trev and I were soon put at ease with such a friendly group of riders and, apart from the TTR starting issue and Trev's puncture on Day 2, everyone's bike survived the weekend with no breakdowns thumbsup.gif but I do understand that there was a bit of rider "resting" going on further down the pack wink

It was a bigger group than I am used to leading (9 in total) but everyone kept up a steady pace and we managed 88 miles and 74 lanes on Day 1 and a relaxed 50 miles and 48 lanes on Day 2.

An excellent bit of organising by Martyn and Olly. The feedback on the Castle Brake accommodation and food has been good - also people seem to have enjoyed the talk and slide show on Saturday night from Nathan Millward who rode home from Australia to England on a 110cc step thru postie bike.

Some pics from the 2 days below mainly featuring ttr riders in the group - moss proof, tiddler and yamalama biggrin

Hi Martyn,

Really enjoyed this year's A to E, are there any plans to do another for 2015?

Thanks,

Have patience, Giles. wink

Plans are being formulated and details will be given in good time.

We are currently trying to locate 24 willing virgins for sacrificial duties to ensure good weather.

You can no doubt imagine the trouble we're having locating that many, especially in Devon. biggrin

Waiting is not one of my strong points!

I'll round up a few of those virgins. Plenty in Wolverhampton as we're all too ugly.
