Pipe & air box & mud deflecter mods

Brian's short header pipe arrived yeasterday...

So a day of work on the bike.... the header pipe was a perfect fit

almost instaled itself... I also put the GYTR muffer back on after

buliding a quiter baffle cone for it..

Done a mod on the air box..snorkle removed aswell as

a rubber skirt to stop mud getting though from the

rear wheel.. got to get a bit of fine stainless gurse

to cover the hole with to stop larger bits getting in..

Played around with a guard section from my XT660R on to

help stop mud from the front wheel getting on the motor..

for setting it... has a total of 21 clicks from full out to full in...

numbers below 5 / 7 / 10 are the setting I have had it on from full out..

on 10 now.... next ride I will put it on 15 clicks..

easyest way to keep track of where you are while finding a setting

that works for yer..

Not a bad idea.   May try it on mine.

I was at Hatfield McCoy two weeks ago and flooded my bike in a puddle because the rear wheel threw a ton of mud in the intake. I'm pretty proud of the fact that I did a complete carb pull and clean on the side of the trail and got it running great an hour later to finish out my trip. That said, I certainly don't want that to happen again. I'm also wanting to open the air box, as this is an obvious concern. So your mud flap mod really catches my attention. Can you give me some info on the material and setup so I can do the same?

Thanks,

Brandon

The rubber it butenal is used on roofing "over here"
infact its the same stuff that inner tubes are made from..

when you put it on leave enough free play in it to , as it has to
be able to fold around the lip/dam on the seat...

it attachs to the other side of the lip on the top/back of the
air box... was easyer to sit it there for the pic..
