Stopped (briefly) on the trail, a heads-up.

Went out on a hosted group ride yesterday of about 160 miles & around 100 miles in, the TTR felt like it was running out of fuel even though I had topped off at around 60 miles. I switched to reserve but it quit & I coasted to the side of the road. I had just rebuilt the carb this past week & the bike was running well to that point. I pulled off the fuel line & nothing came out !?!

The fuel tank tap was new last summer so I didn't think that would be an issue already, I switched the tap back & forth a few times & it started flowing normally again. Then I realized that my tank bag (new this season), which sits on the gas cap, was really packed FULL, much more than normal & had likely completely flattened the vent tube creating a vacuum lock.

I loosened the bag & went for a few more miles but them removed the tube altogether for the rest of the ride so I didn't have to think about it.  No issues after the initial stop. I like having the tank bag as far forward as I can but am thinking I will install a hard 90d elbow on the stub of the cap & run the vent tube from that so it doesn't happen again.
