Miss-fire under hard acceleration.

Had a miss-fire problem since I had the bike, thought I had cured it with a new plug and cleaning the plug seating on the head but it's come back again.

I was wondering if it could be a faulty coil or plug cap - or anything else?.

I can't see it being a carb problem - that's been cleaned out a few times.

It mainly miss-fires under full acceleration going up hills. Grateful for any suggestions.

Is your accelerator pump working correctly? Your carb can be as clean as a whistle but a faulty accelerator pump may cause a lean condition

Thanks I will give it a go tomorrow, I often find when I have a problem, it's something I have missed.

Plus I just wondered if anybody has had a ignition coil or plug lead fail - if not then I could rule that idea out.

Went out on Sunday for a long trail ride and noticed on return the carb bowl was wet and dirty from fuel, I assumed the bowl gasket leaking & fuel from the accelerator pump.

Although not life threatening I decided to operate immediately, I fitted a new bowl gasket and replaced the Check valve (like a 22 bullet case) as it had stuck before.

Now out of 'post-operative recovery', I took the bike out let it warm up a bit and gave it some 'beans' and it flew, accelerating cleanly  - operation a success, I will put up some pictures after 9:00 bit graphic to show before.

Thanks for the carb tip, it's amusing how with an idea of what's wrong you can keep focused in the wrong area.
