Opened up shed 2night after 3 days... just about got knocked

over by the smell of fuel that hit me....

Even with the fuel tap turned off... 1/4 of a tank

of fuel had managed to exscape...

So I would say both the fuel tap & carb need looking at...

"Get yer #@&% togeather Yamaha this things only done 10,000kms..."

So a fuel tap kit from Brian.....  Is there anywhere to get a carb inlet

needle & seat from... other than Yamaha ?

Bad luck Pete cry

In addition to the petrol tap repair kits, we also now stock complete replacement taps for the blue plastic tanked models - see http://www.ttr250.com/TTR_extras/#complete_petrol_tap

I also have a quad Suzuki Eiger, which I transport by trailer and it has an auto fuel tap, so the float goes up & down a lot, it should be ok on auto but I don't trust it. Once I brought it home to do some work on it, by chance removed the plug and pulled the start cord and it pumped fuel out of the plug hole. So I set the float level lower to put a bit more pressure on the needle valve - worked for the last 3 years, now done the same on my TTR (plus fitted fuel filters not for jets but for the needle valve sealing).

I remember stories from the 60's of fuel tapes failing, one guy noticed his oil level was rising on a Honda CB72

Never seen a needle and seat (float needle and valve) that is the same as the TTR250. At the same time, I have never needed to replace the seat or needle.

The float needle valve is a press fit and would be hard to remove without the correct slide hammer or similar. This type of valve is usually robust and does not require replacement unless damaged while cleaning/assembly.
