yes it could be as easy as a rebore but I genuinely don't have the money to sort it now and no interest in the bike as it will need the cam journel looking at in near future.
We took the clutch cover off done it twice beforehand and never had any problems with so can't see that being a problem, the cam journel went due to lack of oil from the oil feed pipe coming off the clutch cover been running fine since abit noisier but no difference in performance, we replaced the head and base gasket and other gaskets, started up fine loads that day on way home after 10 miles it lost all power and had to get recovery, after removing top end today, timing was fine, everything had a good coating of oil and found the piston to be badly scored on the front and back and gudgen pin slightly siezed, no play in the con rod or crank shaft and barrel was slightly scored, just uneconomical for me to repair it.
it's £600 buy it now with a brand new sprag clutch and other parts that could just need a simple rebore and piston and have bike on road easily but I really have no interest, bike is located in Nottingham area by the way.
REMEMBER YOUR PAYING £300 FOR THE BIKE AND £300 FOR THE PARTS WHICH IS A GOOD DEAL, I NEED THIS SOLD TO FUND A NEW BIKE ASAP

For sale is my White TTR250 sold as spares and Repairs £600
After spending £357 on parts from Totally ttrs and fixing the sprag clutch the base gasket, clutch cover cover gasket, generator gasket, head gasket and cylinder head gasket rebuilding the top end as you manual says and using a torque wrench and both me and friend are qualified technicians, on way home the piston and rings have gone for apprantly no reason.
also the cylinder will need work as the far left exhaust cam journal on exhaust is badly scored, also will be included is a black yamaha seat cover, 2 new brake discs and sintered pads, new forkbushing kit and seals, black Hilevel gaitors, fork oil.
It has good chain Renthal and sprockets back tyre plenty of life, MOT and Tax till end of August.
The Cylinder head should only need honing as not damaged by piston on scrape marks.
contact by email at saharvey@hotmail.co.uk or text 07923142320 Brian can confirm all the parts I have ordered.
Barrel needs honing sorry, and no piston and rings were what was originally on the bike and where fine no carbon behind rings.
there is Aluminium in the bore but not deep scoring so should hone out, the piston seems to have to melted to the walls and rings are stuck into the piston.
Just haven't got time, money to strip it down need it gone asap
Surely a rebore and new piston and it would be as good as new?
Any idea what caused the problem?
Did you check that you had oil circulating by removing the oil bleed valve on the clutch cover before starting the engine?
The only time I had a TTR engine seize on me after a rebuild was from oil starvation. Unlikely to be any other reason.
The only time I had a TTR engine seize was in the "early days" when I inadvertently swapped the clutch cover for one that had a blanking plug in the oilway for an oil cooler. I didn't check that I had oil pressure and ended up having to do a second rebore and buy another piston kit
