The OE metal tank decals as found on eBay here are fairly thin and need careful application. Maybe to keep them looking good they would need a coat or three of clear lacquer - that's what protects the original decals.

There is no real solution to the bubbling of decals on any plastic fuel tank - it's not just the TTR that suffers. The D&D tank decals have a lot of perforations and are pretty good as are the Enjoy Mfg ones which have slits instead of holes to let the petrol fumes escape.

Hi.  The previous owner of my bike had the tank re-sprayed to a good standard, however he tried to apply the 'standard' TTR stickers to each side and it didn't go so well!  They are also now peeling at the front as well and would like to replace them.  I like the 'retro' 80's colours and would like to stick with this if I can.  I have seen on a number of 'other' bikes what can be described as tank sticker pads (one on each side) with holes across them which I guess solve the issue you can get with standard vinyl and seem to be considerably thicker for durability.  If you still have any idea of what i'm going on about, does anyone know of a company which make these for TTR's and ideally in the same style as the originals?

I thought something similar after the amount of gas bubbles I get on the tank stickers,
As I have a blue tank my thoughts were that a white open sticker like you mentioned would look good.

Thanks for the offer but my bike is already a mix of white and blue so any more colours and it will look like a shell suit! I'm sure there will be takers on here though.

Hi. Are the tank decals lacquered over. I have removed the rest with boiling water but can't find an edge on the tank ones

anyone know a good way of removing tank stickers already tried cutting around them through the clear coat then heat but only coming off in tiny chips wont peel off. not to bothered about damaging paint as i am going to repaint

If its a metal tank just use a angle grinder with a flapper disk and take it back to bare metal.

Takes no time at all and gives you a nice flawless canvas to work with smile
