Howdy all....confuse

I'm sitting here in NZ typeing this intro....

I'm not the owner of a TTR250 as yet...But one is high on my to have list..

I ride a very moded 09 Yamaha XT660R & a restored 77 Montessa Cota 348 MRR..

As I get older I'm finding the XTR is getting bit of a hand full in the tight gnarly stuff

so a smaller/lighter bike would be good... (not parting with the XTR)

I think the TTR with a few mods could be a very capable dirt toy... I have a complete

05 YZ USD front end that would go in it... Doing a bit of part number matching it looks

as if a WR250F Rekluse EXP auto clutch can be made to fit... I have already managed to fit

a WR450 Rekluse EXP to my XT660R...

Any way enough talk.... got to get the bike first..or all this is just gum flapping...yawn

Heres a list of mods to my XT660R..

Gillimoto 22.5l tank. "good for about 500km"

metal mule high 2 into 1 pipe.

Rekluse WR450 EXP auto clutch.

Showa USD forks.. re valved/sprung.

Ohlins rear shock.

over size brake rotors.

pivot pegs.

SS braided brake lines.

bash plate & engine bars.

fuel injection mods x2.

and so on...

Welcome to TTR land, Peter.

You are making a good choice in wanting a TTR - they're great, reliable, easy to maintain trail irons.

being a owner of a XR400R up to a few weeks ago & now having a TTR250 I can safely say a TTR would be a hoot in NZ, I rode quads in Jan this year in NZ, great country & would love to ride a solo around your fine country.

Have fun, cheers Terry

Good luck.

There are quite a few pitfalls to look for when buying a used TTR. hmm

If you look in the FAQ section of this forum you can read them all.

Click on the TTR250FAQ web pages at the top left hand of this page.

Welcome Peter.
New Zealand is one place I would love to visit.
Lots of information about our TTR here. Folks here are passionate about this bike.
Hope you find a TTR you can live with. TTR's handle well and are fun to ride.
Post a picture of your new ride. If you can show some of your beautiful island in the background, that would be greatly appreciated!
ENJOY!

Ok..I'm now the owner of a 06 TTR250..hmm Will pick up dueing the week..

Felt a bit under powered but I had just got off my XT660R...

It comes with a Yamaha GYTR pipe , is not on it... So that may

help a bit...

now some bits... Bash plate / rear rack / bigger tank.

see if a Rekluse auto clutch can be made to fit..

Congratulations on your new bike. Let us know your findings on the auto clutch, would like that for my bike if it can be made to fit.
