New to ttr and bikes
Permalink

Hi all,

Im new to bikes and ttr250's.  I bought the bike with 1800k's on it now upto 4400k's. Unfortunately i got a bike with the internal clutch freeplay adjustment not set properly and being a newbie didnt know any better, so bUrned that out. Replaced the clutch, missed the two pages about adjstment of freeplay internally..and then burned that clutch in 6 dirt rides.  All fixed now and with the slipping fixed its like a new bike and now has a heavy duty barnett clutch...like to see me burn that out!

Now trying to ride every weekend, or every second weekend in victoria australia near melbourne.  Have a spare set of wheels with road trail tyres for the occassional tar ride, and original wheels with knobbies for dirt riding.  So at 43 with first bike ever, having a ball.  But i am finding i get a ribbing from the new water cooled fuel injected boys...i.e get rid of the farm bike, its too heavy blah blah but it was bought with the knowledge they are bullet proof.  I reckon the ribbing is unfair and their a great bike...but are finding them a little heavy for the single track slimey clay riding we do in victoria

Welcome to the forum, Bryced. handshake.gif

Bad luck with the clutches  cry  - you're definitely learning the hard (expensive) way but you're now more experienced as a result. biggrin

Ignore the water cooled injected guys - when they meet trouble they have to resort to garage repairs or electricians hmm whereas a TTR only needs a hammer and screwdriver. smile

Enjoy your bike and riding it.

Martyn

Welcome Bryced handshake.gif

Sounds like you have had your fair share of replacing clutches. wink

For the watercooled bikes (I own one), I have one word- modification. smile

Hope you enjoy the forum, it is awesome! I admit to being addicted wink
