i got a 2001 ttr250 and i left it out in the rain like a dumb ass and got water into the cylinder. So i just got all of the water out and was joyed to find out it ran. whent to take it for a test ride(just around my yard) and left the choke on. took the choke off and let it idled for about 2 mins put it in gear let out the clutch a little and whent to give it gas and it died sounded like it was getting to much fuel. turned it on and let it run for about 3-4 mins then it just died. turned it on again let it idle 1-2 min l8r died. now it wont stay running for more than 2 mins and it rides when the choke is on but wont stay idled with choke on. any ideas of what may be causing this issue?
First of all you have to work out where it got into the cylinder. Maybe it was just the exhaust?
The problem you describe is a common symptom of water. Drain carb, drain tank, flush, try again.
Make sure you have no water in the airbox or airbox drain pipes, part 16. and 28. below. You may also want to take the exhaust off but not absolutely necessary as it will evaporate after awhile.

Oh, you may want to do an oil change and clean or replace the oil filter (if not done already) but it should run with oil in the bottom end at least (seepage).
If all else fails, a good carb cleaning will be in order.
