What a rip off

Can't believe Yamaha dealers.

I have dismantled my carburetor after years of not riding the bike.

The o-ring on the main nozzle was deteriorated and fell apart in my hand.

So off to the local Yamaha dealer to get an o-ring ( nozzle is fine just needs a soak to clean up )

Dealer informs me that you can not just buy the o-ring, you have to buy the complete nozzle at $116.00. I think this stinks and is just a blatant rip off.

So I went to a local place that sell o-rings and for 50 cents bought one that I hope is the right size. I can not find any dimensions or numbering in the manual for an exact size.

I just thought I would share this and vent my frustration. $ 116.00 for a 50 cent part. Rip off  Yamaha a- holes.

Sorry to hear that you have the same trouble I do when going into a Yamaha store no

Here is a way to beat them.... Go to www.partzilla.com site, buy the nozzle for $19.33, pay the postage (not much), then try to sell it to them for $116.00 biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Good site, thanks Jarrah. You have saved me a pretty penny, was just about to order some bits n pieces from an Australian supplier in coffs harbour.
That site you put up prices for the items I will be requiring are 1/2 to a 2/3 cheaper than we can get here even adding shipping. Its crazy. confuse
Then you have our businesses complaining that people are not shopping here and buying overseas. Wake up Australia.

is there supposed to be an o-ring on the fuel nozzle? or is he talking about the fuel screw?

Apparently he is talking about the main jet nozzle. I have never seen one in a TTR250 carb and have never tried using one. Not so sure that it is needed, but may reduce performance slightly? I might try it to see.

In a Parts Microfiche Schematic Breakdown that I have been using the part is referred to as a Main nozzle.

In my downloaded manual it calls it a needle jet.

If you have not seen an o-ring in this position before, possibly I can not worry about it and do without it. But It was there when I dismantled the carburetor and I am the original owner and it has never been touched by anyone else.

I just fitted a main jet nossle from a 1994 model, it got rid of a stumble (from just past idle to half), but not a big difference in power (still haven't taken for a long run yet). The O-ring cost me 10c from my local parts store and is now fitted, not sure that it made any difference though.

See THIS thread for more info.
