13mm torque wrench adapter?

Anyone been able to source a torque wrench adapter to use on the 13mm nuts on the side of the TTR cylinder head please?

I bought one of these but it actually has 12mm and 14mm ends and not 12mm and 13mm as it says in the heading no

As an alternative would it be possible to fit a 12m or 14mm nut in place of the original 13mm one so that I can use my otherwise wasted investment? I understand the cylinder head studs are M8x1.25 thread.

It seems that the torque wrench adapters are hard to come by, I borrow a mate's one. wink You probably already know this, but if worst comes to worst you could always look at importing one like THIS.

This gives me an idea (oh no some say: ), if you cut the end off a 12mm spanner, round the end up a little, then weld to a socket (with an extension so the weld does not get in the joint) then voila, homemade Torque wrench adapter. smile

It is possible to fit 13mm nuts, I have 13mm nuts on the exhaust studs that are M8 (didn't have two 12mm nuts). To be honest, I am unsure what size is fitted standard to the cylinder head retaining studs as I used 12mm nuts. Nevertheless, 12mm or 13mm will work!

It should not be hard to find 12mm or 13mm M8 flange/washer based nuts but if you have trouble look online. If you want to get ''carried away'' you could buy nice blue titanium nuts like THESE. awwawwawwaww

Your post is quite confusing but I think I got it covered? smile

Ahr yes, I was searching for this type but did not fin much. Good find!

It would be worth it's weight in gold to be able to use it without removing the starter motor.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I think I will try the exhaust nut if I can't get an "ordinary" one Jarrah - sometimes the simplest solutions are the best!

I bought one of the spanners in your link but its 12mm and 14mm not as advertised.

Looking forward to someone trying the swivelling socket thingy wink

In my callow, ignorant youth period (last century!) I have torqued some nuts using an open-ended spanner and a spring balance. biggrin

Measure the spanner length and then apply force to spanner end via a spring balance, lb pull over x ft distance will give lb/ft torque. confuse

I am totally cracking up disbelief

I was replacing a head and started to look for different sized nuts when I realised that the standard nuts are actually 12mm after all and my torque wrench adapter fits biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Interestingly I did the two nuts up first by sense of feel as I always have done in the past and the torque wrench confirmed I was spot on wink

One more job ticked off the list.

Jap bikes dont have 13mm nuts. If they have someone has probably lost the originals. Finding replacement ones for sprockets and stuff is a pain....
