cold starting is usually got to do with the air screw you may have screwed it in too much .

I usually go for a base setting 2.5 turn out and adjust to give best low idle and starting .

when it is right it should start even with a gentle kick .

When you rejetted what jets did you use?

Any other sypmtoms at all that might help us track this problem down?

Things to check first

Ground the spark plug against the engine- do you have nice bright blue spark?

Remove the carb and fill with fuel- does it squirt a nice stream from the starter jet when the throttle is applied?

Does your choke curcuit work as it should?

Next steps

Run Sea foam (I use Subaru upper engine cleaner) through the engine, making sure that you do an oil change afterward.

Check valves are in spec.

Check compression when cold and compare to factory specs, then check when hot and compare to the cold reading.

Welcome to the fun Big Jim,

Lots of great advise for you to read about here. Nice folks too.

I'm using the NGK-CR7E plug, slightly hotter than the stock CR9E, & noticed that it doesn't take long to get started and warm up.

Jarrah has started to help and others will likely chime in as well.

You will get this figured out with their help.

you may also want to check that the float bowl height is right with a peice of clear hose connected to the carby bowl drain
