Brake pivot bolt 002.jpg

Hi Ray and welcome to the forum!

The pics above are of the standard brake pedal pivot bolt. 45mm from end to end and an 8mm thread.

See http://www.totallyttrs.com/NOS/index#brake_pedal_pivot_bolt

Hope that helps.

Brian

The brake pedal support has obviopusly been snapped off my bike by previous owner with a very rough job of welding a 3/8" Unified National Coarse (UNC) and not metric bolt into the frame which results in a very poor job all around.

Can anyone tell me what the original set up is? The brake pedal has a hole of 12mm diameter so I am assuming (wrongly or correctly) that the original support was 12 mm in diameter or that there should be a bushing fitted to a smaller diameter support similar to what is fitted to the side stand bolt

OK: I am starting to get the answers I need. Your photo helps.
I have put some text into your photo and maybe you can provide additional information.
As the original fitting has been torn out and the rolled edge gone from some rought attempt at making a brake support by welding in a stud I do not ahve much to go on to get it corrected.
I have a new support bolt on order and that will assist me.

I am trying to include your photo with comments but not sure if this is working for me so if there is no photo when I post this the "newbie" will have to try again

As the brake pedal support thread fitting has been torn out of the frame by previous owner I need to weld in a new 8mm threaded support. (I have that information thanks to a previous reply).

What I would like to know is: Does the threaded support fit flush with the frame or protude a liitle. If it protudes by how much?

Not sure I understand the question but here is a pic of the recess in which the threaded support fits.

Here's mine, Ray .......

This is a shot of the pedal in-situ ................

IMG_8988.JPG

This is removal of the pivot bolt, which loosens the pedal.......

And this is the 12.66mm depth of the hole from the face of the frame...

Now I'm going to clean it, grease it and reassemble it. biggrin

Good job Martyn wink

If you were in the UK Ray, I could have chopped that section out of an old frame and let you have it!

Maybe someone in your neck of the woods could do that?

WOW: Cubber, this is amazing information that has exceeded my best hopes.
With what you provided I can get this close to original.
I will machine (well my friend will do the machining) an insert and have it welded in.
